A common sight in the European kitchen this espresso maker is the method of choice for many coffee-loving Americans as well. An hour glass shaped pot comprised of three sections. The base is filled with fresh cold water and the filter basket is then filled with espresso coffee and placed into the base with the steam vent down. The top is firmly screwed into the base for an airtight fit. When the broad base is placed on the stove the water is quickly heated to boiling causing steam to rise through the vent across the grounds and into the top receptacle by way of a funnel.
