| The Rosenthal company s fascinating history began with a Bavarian porcelain-decorating factory in 1879. The next decades saw successful expansion and in 1910 the first art pottery department was established. In 1934 Philip Rosenthal was forced to leave by the Nazis because he was Jewish. Nevertheless the company continued to thrive and in 1950 Rosenthal s son returned. In 1961 he established the Studio Line which has had input from painters sculptors designers and architects.
