| Additional Brand Information Ray Leard began packaging his delicious New Orleans style French Market 18 Bean Soup to sell to tourists who stopped by his deli in Norfolk Virginia in an effort to keep his business afloat. This was a success and over the next two years he added five more regional American bean and pasta based soup mixes to the lineup. To differentiate himself from the competition he developed a thematic packaging approach that celebrated each specific American place with a short story and pen and ink sketch. A couple of years later in 1987 Ray sold the restaurant and devoted himself full-time to developing Purely American Foods. His entire family was involved in the blending packing and shipping and by 1989 they were able to afford a real warehouse. Over the next decade sales grew twelve times and seventy more mixes were introduced to Purely American customers. Innovative not just with foods but also with sharing their good fortune the team at Purely American Foods has found new ways to "give back" in the form of Share America Programs. By contributing a percentage of sales from appropriately themed mixes to Picnic in the Park Lights of America and Save the Bay Purely American Foods is helping to preserve America s most unique city parks and lighthouses and helping with the Chesapeake Bay clean up. They are also environmentally aware and make conscientious choices with regard to packaging.Net weight 12 oz.
