| Pre-ground herbs and spices quickly lose essential oils and flavors and become shadows of their former selves. OXO has selected large-cut herbs and spices that have been dried to preserve them. The ceramic grinder that attaches to any of the OXO jars releases the stored oils in much the same way as a mortar and pestle resulting in glorious full-bodied flavor and aroma. The remaining spices and herbs that have not been ground typically have a much longer shelf life. OXO has organized their herbs and spices into color-coded flavor sets that work well together but you can also purchase an empty jar with grinder and custom blend your favorites or refill with one preferred herb or spice. Rosemary is recognized by its shiny dark green leaves that look a bit like pine needles and in fact its aroma is slightly piney too.
