Item # 25089 When Victorian morals demanded that women be protected from men, the crinoline with its metal hoop skirt was the perfect undergarment, defining a circle of distance. But as the hoop started swaying and revealed the ankle beneath, designers rushed in with the ankle boot to ensure propriety. Retired June 30, 2001.
