Nathaniel Russell House

Item # CHS88The Nathaniel Russell House, built in 1808 by Nathaniel and Sarah Russell, is one of America's most important Federal period townhouses. The graceful free-flying staircase which spirals unsupported for three floors, is a testament to the skill of early Charleston craftsmen. Today it is owned by The Historic Charleston Foundation and operates as a house museum and the foundation's headquarters.
