| Item # CHS78This house was built in 1763, prior to the American Revolution, by John Rutledge, first Governor of South Carolina and a signer of the United States Constitution. Rutledge was a member of the South Carolina Assembly, the Stamp Act Congress, the Continental Congress and the U.S. Constitutional Convention. He also served as Chief Justice of the United States Supreme Court, Chief Justice of the South Carolina Supreme Court and Commander-in-Chief of the South Carolina Militia during the Revolutionary War. Much of the history of South Carolina and the United States can be traced to meetings and writings that took place in the large ballroom and adjoining library. Limited Edition of 4,000. |
