| Item # NPT09The Jefferson Memorial dedicated on December 15, 1938, was designed by John Russell Pope. Its circular plan is based upon the Roman Pantheon. Located in West Potomac Park, the memorial overlooks the Tidal Basin. The Memorial Room containsa nineteen-foot statue of Jefferson created by sculptor Rudolph Evans. The statue stands on a pedestal of Black Minnesota granite. Jefferson's most famous writings are engraved on the four interior walls. Above the main entrance is a bas-relief depictingJefferson reading the Declaration of Independence. Limited Edition of 4,000. |
