Item # HL205 As early as 1756, George Washington, a 25-year-old surveyor at the time, recommended the establishment of this critical lighthouse at Horton Point. Decommissioned in 1932, efforts by the Southold Historical Society led to the renovation of the lighthouse and keeper's quarters in 1990.
