Item # HL198 Around 1172, the monks of Saint Saviour of Rendeuan erected Hook Tower, one of the first navigational light towers ever constructed in Europe. The limestone structure was a remarkable engineering feat in its time, and the tower remains structurally intact after eight hundred years. Retired Dec. 31, 2000.
