Item # FL112Built in the 1870's by Asa Tift, the Hemingway House is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Key West. The house was given to Hemingway and his wife Pauline in 1931, by her Uncle, Gus Pfeiffer. Hemingway's studio, a former carriage house was connected to the main house by a catwalk. It was here that he wrote some of his best known books. Today the house is occupied by the Hemingway Museum, and many cats and kittens (many of which are descendants from the nearly fifty cats that lived with the Hemingway family.)
