Item # 25096 c.1921 - Shoes and cultural values are closely entwined. Never had there been such a shift in values as during the 1920's when women cut their hair, shortened their skirts, and flaunted their exuberance. With shoes in full view, graceful, statuesque forms were cut so that the side was open to reveal the provocative arch. The heel itself was sometimes carved, lending a sculptural look. The matching Carved Heel purse (#26308) is sold separately. Retired March 31, 2001.
